Bear Portraits Review

About the Book:
A top celebrity portrait photographer, Jill
Greenberg has a unique ability to coax powerful emotions out of her subjects -whether human or animal. Her portraits of bears, collected here for the first
time, surprise and engage. We encounter cubs as cute as a child's Teddy, grizzlies that look like they might swallow you whole, and Polar bears seated in Sphinx-like tranquility.

Full-grown brown bears, grizzlies, black bears,Polar bears, and bear cubs are photographed on location against a portrait backdrop. The poses and facial expressions are at turns oddly comedic, pensive, terrifying, and sometimes unexpectedly human. Alive with Greenberg's signature lighting and seen through the unique perspective of her lens, these startling bear portraits bring us face to face with our fears and fantasies.

My Review:
This is a wonderful tribute to bears. This book is full of stunning portraits of the many different kinds of bears. There are pictures of the bear cubs and mature bears. These portraits are of gentle calm bears and also of the growling fierce bear. These portraits show so much detail. Along with these portraits, there are some quotes (about bears) by various famous people and authors. In this book there is a Who's Who Page that tells about each bear used in the book. These pages give you the bears name, the type of bear, height, weight, where each bear is from and any credits the bear has. Some of these bears have been seen in movies, magazines or featured on tv.
I really liked how you can see the cute 4 month old bear,Amos weighing only 40 pounds and then also see Koda the 9 foot 1600 pound bear.
I really enjoyed this book and think this would make a wonderful gift for the young or old and sepecially for the bear lovers.

**Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from The Hatchette Book Group to use for review purposes.**
