Rise In Theaters 2.17.2011 ~Ticket Giveaway~ *Carousel Mall Only

I am exciting to help promote RISE,a new skating documentary. This is a One Night Only Event on February 17th and any figure skater or fan will want to see this.

NCM Fathom and U.S. Figure Skating will present the cinematic feature RISE as part of a special in-theater event on Feb. 17, 2011. This historic one-night Fathom Event will celebrate American figure skating while commemorating the 50th anniversary and legacy of the 1961 U.S. World Team tragedy.

(In 1961, an airliner crashed near Brussels, Belgium, killing all on board, including all 18 members of the U.S. Figure Skating Team and 16 family members, coaches and officials who were on their way to the World Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.)

Produced and directed by 16-time Emmy Award winners Lookalike Productions, RISE will take audiences on a powerful and uplifting journey. With the stories of the 1961 World Team at its center, RISE illustrates how the unfulfilled dreams of those who lost their lives on Flight 548 would be shared – and forever realized – by the generations of skaters that have followed.

Also featured in the film are former gold medal skaters Dorothy Hamill, Peggy Fleming, Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano and Michelle Kwan, with tributes from Dakota Fanning and Patricia Clarkson.

Performing a skating exhibition in the film will be 2010 Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek, and there will be interviews with other American figure skating legends.

Proceeds received by U.S. Figure Skating from RISE will be used to further the mission of the Memorial Fund, which awards approximately $300,000 annually in grants and scholarships to skaters, recognizing performance both on and off the ice.

On Feb. 17,2011 -A One Night Event on the Big Screen, the documentary RISE will be shown in 500 theaters nationwide to honor the team that died 50 years ago. In the Syracuse(NY)area, it will be shown at 8 p.m. at Carousel Mall Stadium 17 at the Carousel Center. Tickets are $15 at the box office.
