Do you use Canned Food?

This is a good question? Do you use canned food? Well... I do. I think that Fresh is Best and prefer to use fresh fruits and vegetables but sometimes I use canned or frozen. Mostly, because of the convience and the cost. When Fresh fruits and vegetables are not in season they cost alot more money. I like to grow my own fruits and veggies and sometimes I may freeze or can them myself. And sometimes I buy them at the grocery store. I know... Everyone has their own opinion on using Fresh, Frozen or Canned.
Are you wondering why I'm talking about this? Well, Twittermoms sparked this discussion teaming up with the Canned Food Alliance to bring you a fun blogging contest. So, Of course I thought I would join in this. I watched this video (link below) and learned some interested things.
~Fruits & Vegetables are picked at prime to contain freshness when canned
~Canned tomatoes contain more lycopene then fresh, cooked tomatoes
~Canned corn, beans and pears are high in fiber
~The darker the bean the more antioxidants

Using canned goods is sometimes an easy way to fix dinner. Twittermoms wants to know a favorite recipe using canned goods. Here's a quick one...
Tater Tot Casserole
~Brown 1 lb of hamburger and drain
~Add to a baking dish including
~1 can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
~1/2 can of milk
~1 can string beans
~Top with Tater Tots
Bake until brown (Following directions on Tater Tot Bag)

This recipe is quick and easy... Even my 11 year old can make this for dinner. I'm not saying this is the most nutritious recipe but it does have veggies in it. :)

I do, about half of the time. I love canned green beans, not frozen. But I love frozen corn, and not canned.

I guess it depends on which veggie it is!!
